On the Flip Side of.....Cleaning Out...
September 29, 2020
I told you I could write about this everyday. I hope you like transitional rides, with lots of twists and turns, highs and lows, of refocusing your life. If so you are in the right place. I follow different blogs, programs and different things to do with organizing. I don’t follow it to a tee but I like the inspiration and ideas.
This morning I woke up and checked my email which was at zero last night when I went to bed. Follow up on that….I now have ten unread. I am going through them as they come in for the most part. I unsubscribed to five of them. As I get stronger I will to more of them. I also deleted ones I didn’t need to look at this time., Now that it is clean and less overwhelming. Before bed I will bring it down to zero again wether it is deleting, reading and then deleting, or filing. This is how I have to clean in my home, One little section at a time.
As I am cleaning I have to decide what collections mean the most to me right now. Which ones go with my current lifestyle and which ones I can live without. This is not an easy process because I love pretty unique things. I am particularly drawn to vintage and antique oddities.
I was collecting a lot of vases, mostly vintage USA McCoy and McCoy style pottery in all colors. I have been now streamlining this collection and only keeping certain colors. More about this later. One hint though, one of the colors are pink for one of the bathroom makeovers. I have also collected milk glass for a number of years, like when it was super cheap and everyone wanted to get rid of it. I use the majority of it in my studio. I like the clean white as containers for my paint brushes, scissors, pens and pencils. This summer I painted a dark blue wall in my living room. It is the perfect backdrop for it. This is the reason I had to downsize my McCoy.
So now you know. Sometimes my clean outs are for reasons to make room for other stuff I want more. For now that works for me and I call it win. This summer I have scored some nice additions to my milk glass. I shop garage sales, flea markets, antique stores and thrift stores. The above photos is some new pieces.
