Deana Mattos Diefenbach

Bella Cosa Art Deana Mattos Diefenbach studio 1 shot.jpg

Deana Diefenbach’s passions interconnects like a patchwork quilt. Painting, crafting, upcycling, collecting and caregiving are all seamed together. Finding the flow that connects them all, from the personal to the professional, is her daily goal.

Deana’s painterly style is loose and contemporary, with a fondness for bold color and intuitive marks, capturing the fleeting essence of a moment. Deana enjoys working with a wide range of mediums from acrylic paints on canvas to watercolors on paper, to mixed media/collage and unique upcycled projects. Her subjects are inspired by the natural beauty of the scenery of Montana where she lives. The inspiration comes from the wildlife, landscapes, birds and the flowers of her own garden. She loves the freedom and release of working abstractly. As she works on a subject, abstraction always plays a role to show her unique vision and perspective.

Home is where the heART is and that’s where Deana creates her own paradise. It is a necessity due to her own newly discovered chronic illness, as well as raising a child that has severe disabilities. Deana is an avid collector of beautiful things and a master thrifter. She loves the beauty of design, good quality and has a keen aesthetic and eye for both. Collecting and reselling these treasures is a joy, alongside painting, and it keeps her home and wardrobe looking like a rotating museum. Her work and sales help aid in providing for her family by reselling some of the best of her finds. In the warmer months, she loves to tend to her beautiful gardens and enjoys spending time in the camper she renovated into an artist’s “glamper” aka her studio.

Deana lives with her family of five in rural Montana with mountains in clear view.
